Pioneer America Society Photograph Collection 1968-1994

This collection consists of 36 photographs taken by Henry H. Douglas and William Edmund Barrett. It is divided into two series by photographer, after which it is arranged chronologically. The photographs were taken for "Echoes of Time," the newsletter of the Northern Virginia Chapter of the Pioneer America Society. Most, but not all, were eventually published in the newsletter.

In mid-1974, announcements were made almost simultaneously by the Fairfax County Water Authority and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that Catoctin Creek was a prime candidate for a dam and reservoir impounding water for a 7-day supply for the Washington, DC area during drought periods.
